BUNDABERG BUSH HOUSE & ORCHID CLUB INC.

Bundaberg Bush House and Orchid Club Inc. was founded in 1962 by a group of plant lovers and continues today, with equally keen members.

The objective of the club is to foster and support the interest of our members, and the community in general, in gardens, bush houses and plants.

Members meet on the 4th Thursday of each month, except December, at the Avenell Heights Hall, Thabeban Street, Bundaberg, at 7.30pm. Visitors and guests are most welcome.

One of the highlights of our meetings is the popular vote. Members display their prized plants including orchids, flowering plants, foliage, ferns, bromeliads, cacti and succulents. We also have 'single bloom" for those of us who have a special plant in flower, and ‘pride of my garden’ categories.

Guest speakers at the meetings provide valuable information on the growth and maintenance of quality plants, including practical demonstrations.

An important social aspect of our club are our field trips, often to fellow members gardens, held in a friendly and informal atmosphere.

We are closely associated with ‘sister’ clubs in neighboring towns from Rockhampton to the Sunshine Coast. We have a busy social calendar, with coach tours to southern garden expos and open gardens. It is our pleasure to return the hospitality of ‘sister’ clubs, who provide a wonderful day when we visit, showing us their lovely gardens.

The growing of plants is a relaxing and therapeutic pastime, and the friendship of like-minded people is very rewarding.
